You might not know it if you live in the Northeast, as winter has decided to rear her ugly head once more (in MAY!) but, ladies, we all know what’s coming up around the corner.
Bathing. Suit. Season.
Besides the obvious “wow, I really shouldn’t have eaten that entire box of Girl Scout cookies in one sitting” thoughts that sometimes fly through our head during the first few run-ins with our suits, there is also another lingering, um, “maintenance” issue that needs our attention. Yes, you know what I’m talking about. How about we call it the “bikini line area” for all intensive purposes, shall we?
Personally, I go the waxing route. Lying on the estheticians table is never the most pleasant 30 minutes of my life but it gets the dirty work done – for a few weeks at least. If you also have the pleasure of experiencing hot wax applied to your body and then ripped off via a cloth, you know one of the issues that pops up more than we’d all like is the dreaded ingrown hair(s).
Below are two items that I promise will help keep them to a minimum and they both have to do with that magical beauty world: EXFOLIATION!
If you can ignore the rubbing alcohol smell, this product is worth having in your medicine cabinet. It helps reduce unsightly bumps, razor burn, and the sometimes painful and definitely annoying ingrown hair. I wish I could tell you it stops them from happening completely but I have noticed a difference when I use Tend Skin versus when I let nature have her, um, way.
Figuring she was just trying to sell another product, I was skeptical the first time my esthetician pushed these on me when I left her waxing torture device table. Seeing as the gloves were only $5 though I decided I’d live on the edge and give it a shot. The before and after comparison of not only ingrown hairs but dead skin on knees, elbows, and feet has been impressive. These gloves are great for summertime and easy, breezy to use during your daily shower.
Because let’s face it. We all want to look hawt in our suits. We just don’t want to have to suffer too much for our “art.”
Tend Skin Average Price $30/160z.

do you do anything special to clean or air out the gloves after showering? i used to use some, but then didn't know if they were sanitary or not.
and be honest, for $30, is that tend skin worth it? because my poor ingrown hair hating body needs to try something!
I hang the gloves in my shower to let them air-dry...and I replace them every 3 months or so. Some folks say you can just throw them in with your laundry to get rid of germs and bacteria that grow but they're made of such a weird meshy material I figure I'd rather just shell out another $5 for new ones.
Re: Tend Skin. I agree, $30 is steep. I believe they sell an 80z bottle as well (at least they used to as that's what I have in my bathroom now) so you might want to start with that - a tad cheaper and you can find out if you like it.
One final note, I DO think the gloves work better than the tend skin even though I recommended both. Maybe start with the gloves (Cheaper option) and see how that works. Plan B can be tend skin.
Good luck! Let the season of bathing suits begin!
