4 hours later I was a changed girl.
The tale of Scarlett and Rhett, Melanie and Ashley, Mammy, and the beautiful plantation of Tara set during the Civil War is nothing less than epic.
If there ever was a movie to make people fall in love with movies, Gone With the Wind is it. On a personal level, I have to rank it as one of the most influential films of my life; something I watched over and over and over and yes, just once more with zeal. It's the film that I compared all other films against. The one that made me want to study film in college, the movie that makes me catch my breath every time the opening lines "It was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton fields..." scroll across the screen, one that still makes me cry every time I watch it.
The casting is excellent and immortalized. The history behind the making of the film is fascinating. The 8 Oscars it took home in 1939 are all most deserved. If there is any woman alive who doesn't still root for Scarlett and Rhett to find their way back to one another still, then I have yet to meet her.
Tara! Home. I'll go home. And I'll think of some way to get him back. After all... tomorrow is another day

The Pink Mixer may be interested in knowing that, on a recent TV show exploring the White House kitchens, a similar machine was fully deployed in the Pastry Kitchen. Unfortunately, this machine was bright red, a color which may or may not be indicative of Obama's leanings.
