I usually cringe when I read about a makeup shade that “works for all skin tones!” Very rarely do I find a color that works well on me - a fair skinned brunette – that works just as great on one of my best friends – a perpetually tan blonde. That said, of course I went and proved my “it can’t be done” theory wrong when I found Bobbi Browns lip pencil in raisin. This really does seem to be a color (a sort of muted pinky-brown) anyone can pull off. It’s subtle enough to not scream lip color but instead adds just a hint of goodness to make your look polished. I use the pencil all over my lips rather than just to outline them (huge bonus points that it’s soft enough to do that!) and then add a touch of lip gloss on top for shine.
Granted, it’s a little on the pricey side for lip pencil but I’ve gotten so much wear and tear from it, I vote that it’s worth it. Especially when I stop and do the math about all the other shades I’ve tried and been unhappy with at five bucks a pop.
